This nice start to the program didn't go as smoothly as planned. I woke up this morning an hour early to start Insanity. I recently moved to the middle of nowhere and only have a DVD player on my laptop. The issue that arose was that Windows 8 does NOT come with an application that plays DVDs. It took me a good 45 minutes to figure out what to download in order to start my workout. This would have been an easy way for me to give up and start tomorrow since it will be the new year. Instead I decided to do the workout and tried to get ready for work as quickly as possible.
Now for the workout experience and results. Insanity has the first day as the Fit Test. This test is used to measure success in the program and gives users a tiny taste of the Insanity experience. Insanity is all about interval training. This means that you do these exercises consecutively one after the other. Each individual exercise is preformed for exactly one minute. This test is made up of eight different exercises. Insanity has every participant write down how many he or she can do of a certain exercise within the one minute time limit. Due to the fact that I have a bad knee, I only completed seven out of the eight exercises. I hope to complete all nine in the near future. Listed below are the results of my first Fit Test.
52 switch kicks
25 power jacks
70 power knees
0 power jumps
5 globe jumps
6 suicide jumps
10 push-up jacks
16 low plank oblique
According to the program, when people increase their cardio capabilities they will get higher numbers on the test. This test was not an easy task. I was sweating and tired by the end of the 31 minute test. Since it is New Years Eve, I am writing this post early in the day. This means that I will not have my Fitbit numbers for today until later tonight. I will keep you posted, and I am glad that I survived day one.
